Michael E. Rosen
President and CEO

As President & CEO, Michael has responsibility over all aspects of the management of the Food Industry Alliance (FIA), which includes government relations, administration, budget and membership development.

Michael previously worked for eight years in the state Senate.  He has served the association for well over 25 years primarily as FIA's lead lobbyist.

Prior to joining the Alliance, Michael served as counsel to then Senator Joseph L. Bruno. As the Senator’s counsel, he also served as counsel to the standing Senate Committees on Consumer Protection and Insurance.

Michael received his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Wagner College and his Juris' Doctorate from Albany Law School.  He was admitted to practice law in New York in 1979.

Jay M. Peltz 
General Counsel & Vice President Government Relations

Jay serves as the Food Industry Alliance's voice in the Metro - New York region before the Administration and Council of New York City and the county and local governments in Suffolk, Nassau and Westchester Counties.  Jay oversees a comprehensive public affairs program that includes: lobbying; maintaining communications with FIA members operating in this region; writing/editing FIA's Metro newsletter Fast Food Facts; coordinating FIA's WIC Task Force; representing the industry with the Public/Private Initiatives Team at the NYC Office of Emergency Management; and overseeing FIA's Metro office.

Jay possesses an extensive industry and public sector background.  Besides his experience as a supermarket owner/operator in Peekskill, New York, Jay was Associate General Counsel for the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, Counsel and Legislative Director in the New York State Legislature, and Senior Assistant Corporate Counsel for the City of White Plains.

Jay received his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his Juris Doctorate from the Fordham University School of Law.

Maston J. Sansom
Vice President, Government Relations

As FIA’s lead Albany lobbyist, Maston has primary responsibility for representing member interests before the Governor’s office, both Houses of the state legislature, and numerous state agencies (e.g., the Department of Agriculture & Markets, Division of Budget, Department Taxation and Finance, Department of Environmental Conservation, Department of Health, State Liquor Authority, Gaming Commission, and Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance). Maston oversees FIA’s statepolitical contributions, and is editor of the association’s weekly newsletter. He is also the staff liaison to FIA’s Government Relations Committee and Food Safety Committee.

Prior to joining the Alliance, Maston served as Director of Government Relations and Corporate Ethics at a fast-growing IT company for more than four years. He also worked in the NYS Senate for nearly a decade, and rose to the position of Assistant Counsel to the Majority. Maston’s portfolio included Alcoholic Beverage Control, Campaign Finance Reform, Elections, Transportation, Corporations, Authorities, and Commissions.

Since 2011, Maston served on the Board of Directors at the Nelson A. Rockefeller Performing Arts Center, also known as “The Egg.” Maston is a graduate of SUNY Albany and Albany Law School. He is admitted to practice law in New York State.

Ava B. Stone
Director, Trade Relations

Ava directs FIA’s varied and extensive trade relations program which encompasses marketing, special events planning and execution, liaison to the supplier members and all trade-related promotional activities. Specifically, Ava oversees and manages the annual Red Carpet Salute, the “Jack Duffy Golf Classic,” the yearly “Trade Summit,” Regional Trade Receptions/Dinners, and the Charles McCullom Scholarship Saratoga Fundraiser. Ava’s other key accountabilities include recruitment and retention of Chairman’s Club members (i.e. grocery suppliers and manufacturers), arranging “guaranteed appointments” for Chairman’s Club members with supermarket chain and wholesale procurement officers, and preparation of FIA’s Salute Journal/Membership Directory.

Laura E. Mastrianni
Office Manager / Executive Assistant

Laura serves as Office Manager and Executive Assistant for Government & Trade Relations. In this capacity, she assists in scheduling and planning of meetings, supports the administration of trade events, maintains databases, accounts receivables and coordinates marketing efforts from design to print and publish. Laura provides computer assistance and support to the FIA staff as well as acts as webmaster and graphic designer. Her background in advertising and design is most helpful in this area.

Laura received her Bachelor’s degree from the College of New Jersey majoring in Corporate Fitness/Wellness, Digital Design diploma from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online and holds certifications in many Microsoft Office applications.
